„Cow­funding” pentru a o recupera pe Hermien, o vacă ce a scăpat dintr-un abator

30 ianuarie 2018 – Săptămâna trecută, Partidul pentru Animale a organizat o campanie de crowdfunding de succes pentru a o salva pe bine-cunoscuta Hermien de la abator. Bovina a reușit să scape chiar înainte să fie dusă la măcelar și a petrecut săptămâni întregi în pădurile neerlandeze fără să fie găsită de vânători, agenți, veterinari și fermieri. În orice caz, căutarea a continuat. Partidul pentru Animale a decis să o ajute pe Hermien și să strângă bani pentru a-i oferi o viață liniștită într-o fermă specială pentru vaci. Mii de cetățeni neerlandezi au participat și au donat bani.

Esther Ouwehand, parlamentar din partea Partidului pentru Animale: „Hermien se luptă pentru viața sa și noi o vom ajuta. Ea ne amintește de o lecție importantă: niciun animal nu vrea să meargă la abator.”

Hermien a scăpat atunci când a fost încărcată pentru transportul către abator. De atunci, ea a trăit în pădure de mai bine de șase săptămâni, timp în care a fost vânată. Mai multe încercări de a o prinde au eșuat.

Strigăt pentru libertate

Vacile ne arată că libertatea este importantă pentru ele. Se pare că o bovină care a scăpat toamna trecută dintr-o fermă din Polonia s-a alăturat unei turme de bizoni sălbatici din pădurea Bialowieza. Și se pare că totul merge bine. Exact ca bizonii, vacile sunt animale care trăiesc în turmă și sunt foarte apropiate unele de celelalte.

Donații
Mii de oameni au donat bani și au ajutat la propagarea campaniei, printre altele cu tweet-urile #HelpHermien și #FreeHermien.

Banii vor fi folosiți pentru a asigura că Hermien va fi îngrijită în mod corespunzător pentru tot restul vieții ei în ferma specială pentru vaci „De Leemweg”, care se finanțează exclusiv prin donații. De Leemweg adoptă și are grijă de vacile din toată țara care au scăpat din abatoare, care au fost neglijate sau care nu au unde altundeva să se ducă. La această fermă, animalele trăiesc în pace și liniște până când mor din cauza naturale.

Partidul pentru Animale a mai organizat și alte campanii de crowdfunding care au fost un real succes. De exemplu, în 2006 partidul a eliberat taurul Bikkel, care după o scurtă perioadă petrecută la o grădină zoologică pentru copii, a fost transferat către o fermă de viței. Partidul a salvat de la moarte și vaca Sjoerdje, după ce animalul a scăpat în timp ce era transportat către abator.

30 January 2018 – Last week, the Dutch Party for the Animals launched a successful crowdfunding campaign to save a cow called Hermien from slaughter. The cow managed to escape just before being taken to the abattoir and for weeks, she has hidden in the Dutch forests, evading capture by hunters, officers, vets and farmers. However, the hunt for the animal continued. The Party for the Animals decided to help Hermien by raising money that will allow her to live a quiet life in a cow shelter. Thousands of Dutch citizens sympathised and donated money.

Party for the Animals MP Esther Ouwehand: “Hermien is fighting for her life and we are going to help her. She reminds us all of an important lesson: no animal wants to be sent to slaughter.

Hermien managed to escape when she was being loaded for slaughter. Since then, she has remained in the forests for over six weeks, while being hunted. Several attempts to capture the animal have failed.

Desire for freedom

This is not the first time a cow has shown how much it values freedom. A cow that escaped from a farm in Poland last autumn, appeared to have joined a herd of wild bison in the Bialowieza Forest. And she seems to be in good condition. Like bison, cows are herd animals and closely related to one another.

Donations

Thousands of people have donated money and helped to make the campaign a success, e.g. by tweeting messages followed by #HelpHermien and #FreeHermien.

The money will be used to ensure that for the rest of her life, Hermien will be well cared for in cow shelter “De Leemweg”. The shelter is entirely dependent on donations, and adopts and looks after cows from the Netherlands that have escaped from slaughterhouses, cows that have been neglected, or, for whatever reason, have nowhere else to go. In the shelter, cows are allowed to live a quiet and peaceful life until their natural death.

Earlier crowdfunding campaigns launched by the Party for the Animals have also proven successful. In 2006, the party bought the freedom of a bull named Bikkel, who was discarded and given to a calf fattening farm after a short life in a petting zoo. The party also saved a cow called Sjoerdje from death after she had escaped on her way to the slaughterhouse.
