Mai este o săptămână jumătate până la alegerile parlamentare. Suntem între timp într-o cascadă de interviuri, dezbateri la televiziune și în țară, prelegeri, proiecții de filme și bineînțeles sondaje. De asemenea, putem fi găsiți din abundență și pe social media. Pagina noastră de Facebook neerlandeză a depășit săptămâna trecută pragul de 100.000 de like-uri, de departe cea mai apreciată comparativ cu paginile celorlalte partide neerlandeze.

Printre toate interviurile și dezbaterile, străbat țara împreună cu Ewald Engelen cu prelegerile noastre despre „Canarul în mina de cărbune”, cartea despre care am mai scris anterior (cartea este de asemenea disponibilă și în variantă electronică în limba engleză). Mereu găsim săli pline, inclusiv cu mulți oameni care nu sunt membri, dar care doresc să asculte povestea noastră. Desigur, ei pot vota pe 15 martie, dar aceasta nu este singura modalitate prin care oamenii se pot mobiliza. Și prin intermediul cardului sau al cuțitului și furculiței putem face politică. Ewald numește acest mod politică cu p mic. Noi, în calitate de cetățeni, angajați, investitori și consumatori, cu siguranță nu suntem lipsiți de putere!

Colega mea, Esther Ouwehand, parlamentar și numărul 2 pe lista electorală, cutreieră țara împreună cu Lammert van Raan, numărul 3 pe listă, ținând prelegeri cu tema ‘Idealismul este noul realism’. Ei vorbesc despre politica expresivă și arată că idealismul este noul realism de care lumea are nevoie stringentă. Bazându-se pe cei 10 de ani ai Partidului pentru Animale în cadrul Parlamentului și pe programa noastră electorală, aceștia vor să familiarizeze oamenii cu alternativa politică la ordinea deja stabilită. Este timpul pentru planul B, deoarece nu există o planetă B.

Retrospectiva celor 10 ani ai Partidului pentru Animale în Parlament se poate de asemenea viziona într-o expoziție publică de fotografii, în centrul orașului Amsterdam. 22 de fotografii prezintă istoria parlamentară a Partidului pentru Animale. Alături de alți candidați, am inaugurat expoziția. Aceasta evidențiază rolul catalizator al primului partid pentru ‘non-humans’ din lume, ales ca reprezentant într-un Parlament național. Pentru cine e în apropiere: expoziția este liber deschisă publicului până la 16 martie și se află în față la Stopera.

O noutate reprezintă și programa noastră electorală interactivă, Imaginea de ansamblu: Planul B (The Big Picture: Plan B), o formă special creată de infotainment destinată unui public mai tânăr. Până acum nu s-a mai făcut niciodată în Țările de Jos o programă electorală accesibilă în acest mod vizual. Acesta conferă celor care vizionează posibilitatea de înțelege la o primă vedere ceea ce partidul susține. Cine dorește o imagine în detaliu, poate face un tur audio sau, datorită unei tehnici de zoom unică, poate naviga amplu prin numeroasele puncte de vedere ale partidului. Subiectele sunt ilustrate printr-un film tematic, un fragment audio sau un text scurt. Din păcate e disponibil numai în limba neerlandeză, dar interesant de văzut:

Chiar înainte de a începe vacanța pentru campania electorală, am mai punctat două realizări frumoase, pe care le împărtășesc bucuroasă cu voi. Parlamentul a adoptat o moțiune de-a noastră, care obligă Guvernul neerlandez să se implice și mai mult pentru a pune capăt sacrificării delfinilor din Insulele Feroe și din Taiji.

Și spre surprinderea multora: în ultima dezbatere parlamentară înainte de alegeri, Parlamentul a decis că vacile trebuie obligatoriu lăsate la pășunat. O majoritate parlamentară a sprijinit propunerea noastră de a ‘asigura în mod legal’ pășunatul în aer liber.

La următorul worldlog alegerile au trecut și vom ști rezultatele!

Just one and a half week more to go before the Lower House elections are on. We have gained momentum and are busy with interviews, debates on television and all around the country, lectures, film performances, and of course polls. We are also all over social media. Our Dutch Facebook page passed the 100,000 likes last week, by far the largest number of all Dutch political parties.

In between all interviews and debates, I am travelling throughout the country together with Ewald Engelen to give our lecture on The Canary in the Coal Mine, the book I wrote about before (the book is also available as an English ebook). The lecture attracts a great number of people each time again, many who are not a member yet but are eager to hear our story. Of course they can vote on the 15th of March, but that is not the only way they can take action themselves. We can also do politics with our bankcard en with our knife and fork. Politics with a small letter ‘p’ is what Ewald calls it. We are definitely not powerless as a citizen, employee, investor or consumer!

My colleague Esther Ouwehand, MP and ranking No. 2 on the list, is travelling through the country with Lammert van Raan, who is ranking No. 3, with the lecture called ‘Idealism is the new realism’. They talk about expressive politics and demonstrate that idealism is the new realism, which is what the world urgently needs. On the basis of 10 years of the Party for the Animals in the Lower House and our election programme, they will introduce the real political alternative for the Establishment to people. It is time for Plan B because there is no planet B.

Those 10 years of the Party for the Animals in the Lower House can also be viewed at a public photo exhibition, in the heart of Amsterdam. The parliamentary history of the Party for the Animals is displayed on 22 photos. I revealed the photos together with other candidates. The exhibition outlines the booster role of the world’s first party elected into the national parliament that focusses on ‘non-humans’. If you happen to be in the neighbourhood, please drop by, the exhibition is free and in front of the Stopera.

New is also our interactive party programme, The Big Picture: Plan B, a specially developed form of informative entertainment aimed at a younger target group. There was never before an election programme in the Netherlands that was made visually accessible the same way. It gives visitors the opportunity to see at a glance what the Party stands for. Anyone who wants to get a better view can start an audio tour or browse through the many viewpoints of the Party thanks to a unique zooming technology. The topics are explained with a thematic video, an audio fragment, or short text. Unfortunately it is only in Dutch but it is nice to watch any way.

Just before we went on election recess we achieved two great successes, which I would like to share with you. The Lower House accepted our motion which obliges the Dutch cabinet to make an extra effort to stop the dolphin slaughters on the Faroe Islands and in Taiji.

And to many’s surprise: during the last parliamentary debate prior to the elections, the Lower Houses decided that cows must be led to pasture. A majority supported our proposal to ‘legally guarantee’ pasturing.

At the next Worldlog, the elections will be over and we will know the result!
